windshield washer fluid

my winshield washer fluid doesn't work. the wipers work fine, but when i hit the button for fluid, i can hear a click coming from under the dash on the passenger side. could this be a faulty relay? would the wipers still work even if the relay is bad?

If the reservoir is not out of fluid, I'd check the hoses for a blockage.
I'd just disconnect at the pump and blow thru each section...

Check where the wiring enters the resovior...it likes to corrode there. Remove any corrosion. You can also remove the hose from the resovior and check for blockage. When you do this, most of the fluid in the resovior will spill out. You can use a multi meter to check if the switch is sending power (should be 12V) to the pump in the resovior by grounding one terminal and activating the switch. You can also jumper the pump itself to test it. Use a wire to hook it it right up to the battery and ground the other terminal. If it doesn't fire, replace the pump.
