My '04 SD diesel has a small light on the left extreme end of the dash panel that has been flashing at a modest pace, once every 2 seconds???.....suddenly it has increased its flash to so fast it hardly goes off. What happened??? What do I need to do to get it back where it was???
I think your alarm is in 'Valet' mode. Press the red little light for like 10 seconds and release. It should now back to normal 'Arm' mode. Almost forgot, but will need key in and on (truck engine off) and the driver door open.
Hope this helps...maybe someone else will chime in.
Are we talking about a Ford brand security system? Since Super Duty's don't come from the factory with security systems, it could be any type of system. If it's the Ford brand, then a steady, once per second, flashing light means the system is armed. Rapidly flashing means the system was tripped. A double flash (flash-flash, off, flash-flash, etc.) means it's in valet mode.
10-04, guys. It has changed to flash-flash-off mode now. The wife set alarm off just before the rapid flashing. I will try the press-for-10-second-with-key-in-door-open prodeedure and see what happens. This seems to be a Ford system, there is box under the hood that says 'Ford' on it............
If the system is in valet mode (flash-flash, off, flash-flash, etc.) you'll need to turn the ignition on and press both the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter at the same time to get it out of valet mode and back to normal operation, the light should go off and only come back on when you arm the system (steady, once per second flash).

10-04........... I am not sure I will ever make it comfortably into the world of computer operated vehicles!!!!!!!! Until 2000, we drove a '61 and '63 Pontiacs and had (still have) dial telephones....my race car still has a clutch pedal.....kind of lets one know how I feel about the computer age.
