I have a 96' F-350 with an automatic transimission. Recently my overdrive light started flashing and the truck started shifting really hard. I tried changing the sensor on the rear differential b/c someone I talked to said they had the same problem and that fixed it. Changing the sensor worked for about a day but then it started acting up again. Do I need a new Transmission?? Thanks
What you need is to read the codes so that you can tell what's wrong. When the OD light flashes it means a code is stored. Read the code before wasting any more money on parts that aren't bad.
I did check the codes and the only one that keeps popping up is the P0603-PCM Processor Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error. I was looking around on the site and from what I found this code doesnt mean anything except that you have a chip in the truck. I do have the edge evolution programmer in the truck now. So all i've been doing is clearing the code and the truck will run good for about half the day. Then today when I hooked the computer back up, a new code came up for the first time P1728 and it said transmission slip error. Ok thanks for the time!
