Post New Pickup to Match

My wife and I have just bought a 31-foot Fleetwood Wilderness 31GL
Travel Trailer and plan to use it as our home. We must have it at a reserved Trailer Park site and hooked up within the next two weeks.

At the moment we have only a sedan and a small SUV, a 1998 6cyl Rodeo. The Ford trucks look attractive to us but we could use some help in selection. Mainly the best bang for the least bucks. We also need to keep the sedan and SUV.

We don't expect to move the trailer but once every few months or more and then for a distance within 60 miles. The trailer has a GVWR of 8,900 lbs. The trailer park requires that the towing truck be on site for the time the trailer is there.

Do you think that a used Ford F-250 will do it with an 8-cyl engine or an F-350 also with an 8-cyl?

Where might we find the lowest priced, truck usable for our purposes?
There don't seem to be any ads for used F-250's or F-350's in the SF Chronicle for instance. Your information and advice sure are welcome.

How much are you looking to spend?

If you can find an F350 with a diesel it might be the best choice. The 7.3litre powerstrokes are tourque monsters, you will find these in 95 and up F250's and F350's. Previous to that they had the turbo diesels between 88 and 94 and from 83 to 87 they had the 6.9litre diesels. All these engines will be good but the power strokes are the best.

If you go for gas get a 460 (V8)for sure the smaller 351 (V8)cid's may do the job but you will have much more power with the 460's. I hope this helps
