well i had a friend come and look at my 2001 7.3 because my truck is lacking power and has bluish white smoke and he suggested that it is probably a bent valve maybe even a piston he said that the previous owner might have revved it to high does this sound right and if it is about how much do you think it would cost to fix.thank you for your time i hope someone can help me.
Hello, Welcome to FTE. you have found the best place on the net. please start out by telling us the overall history, such as if it had any previous problems that may be recurring. how is the oil level and condition, miles on the oil? how is the coolant level? are there any codes stored? i would recommend that you get a tool to check the static compression of the cylinder that removes a glow plug, and screws in there.
Hi,
Can u give us a little more history on your truck like, how many miles, when did the lack of power start happening, do u always blow bluish/white smoke, last time maintenance was done...etc. I've never heard of the bent valve damaged/piston thing myself. Could be bad fuel or injector problem.
