Question Swapping OEM stereos

Okay gang, here's my first question, of I'm sure many being a new Super Duty owner.
Facts:
1. F350 Crew, Powerstroke, 4x4, XL
2. Basic AM/FM OEM with front door spkrs only, pre-wired for rear spkrs
3. Procured and installed AM/FM, CD, Cass OEM, removed from new 04 F150;
installation was not exact bracket but ingenuity came in handy, fits dash face nicely
4. Only (1) 24 pin harness under dash
5. 2nd stereo accepts (2) harnesses, my 24 pin fits
assumption: 2nd smaller harness is for remote/steering wheel controls
6. Everything works, sounds great
7. Procured and installed new Pioneer speakers in rear
8. Rear speakers no make sound

Questions:
1. Am I going to get sound with this configuration?
2. Should I re-sell the 2nd unit and look for 06 F350 model? Cassette is not necessity, more of a coincidence/bonus.

Many of you may be asking yourself, why bother with OEM? I don't know, maybe I'm just old school. Besides, I like the big buttons.
Thanks in advance.

Found the wires, OEM (2) part connector/harness did not have lugs inside the male end for crimping to speaker wires, spliced them instead. I even found the other end of all (4) wires on the 24 pin plug under dash.
I am beginning to think the 04 unit has the rear spkrs on another pin in the harness, make sense?
I even went back to the original AM/FM unit, reconnected it to harness and still no sound from rear, but then that unit probably has no rear channel anyway.

Problem solved.
Being an electrician, I should have thought of this. Check the connection!
I used a poor piggyback type splice connector temporarily until I could get a connector that matched the OEM for the rear speakers.
Circuit City to the rescue, they had a pigtail..... plug and play!

On to the next project.
Thanks for your feedback.
