need help, suspension...

So, I’ve been rebuilding the suspension on my Lightning while the trans is out being rebuilt. I’ve got the front done with new bushings, springs and shocks. And the right rear is done. I’ve still got a lot of work left with the trans going back in, and redoing some wiring and other stuff, but I’ve got a big problem on the left side spring. The bolt for the shackle to the frame bracket is rusted to the sleeve and I got to get it out. I’ve soaked it with WD-40 for three days but it will not budge. What’s the best way to get this thing out? Last time I did this job was on a toy yoda 4x4 and I beat the hell out of the spring mount trying to cut the bolt out. I don’t want to screw up the brackets on this one. Thanks.

If it is possible, without getting too close to the fuel tank, try heating it with a torch then spraying a non-flammable lubricant on it. As the part cools, the lubricant to be drawn in to all the crevices around the bolt and it will most likely come out by hand......after you let it cool of course.

Short of just cutting them with a cut off wheel, I would try PB Blaster. It works well on heavily rusted parts. It may also take a few days of soaking to work. I would also put some anti-seize on the bolts so they dont do that again when you put it back together.
