First timer with 66 questions

First this board is great, I learned alot before getting my truck it's a simple 66 short bed with a 460 very solid and kinda fast.

My questions.. front end is a little loose should I rebuild it or swap it out with somthing newer?

I would like to add the powersteering and have read most of the post about that and at the same time I want to change to a tilt wheel any thoughts here?

The only rust is in front the radiator mounts and the grill, I have looked in LMC and a few other catalogs but those replacement parts are not listed good source for that?

Thanks in advance
CK

CK, Have you searched the '67-'79 archives?? the 2 boards used to be combined and There are many, MANY more threads over there that you can search through (most of them will pertain to these older trucks). When I first found this site I researched it for many evenings before posing any questions.
Everything that you are pondering is "do-able", I personally just finished the disc brake conversion. Although it is not completely "dialed in" yet, I can tell that it was worth the time and effort. This morning I was "turned on" to some caliper holders that will eventually become my rear disc brake hangers (yeah baby). I also fabricated a rad. support out of MY rusty one AND a support from a '64 ? school bus (last summer) These are ALL what I consider "major" projects BUT I plan on having this truck for the rest of my life and nothing,...... NOTHING is too good for it. As my "monicker" says, this IS my worktruck and I use it every day as a ceramic tile contractor.
Patience, ability and tenacity is what it takes.

As far as the front end goes, I would rebuild what you have. The parts are plentiful, common for many years. With that 460, you need a truck strength front end, not a "Mustang 2" type..

CK, Welcome! Ask away we enjoy helping and if someone else has already asked the question we don't mind answering it again. I personally like the old I Beams you have because they have an adjustable steering stop! But I'm picky. I also like the old radius arms, they are forged and look nicer than the new pressed ones. Do the power disk brake and power steering up grade ASAP! You can get all the major parts used or rebuilt and everything else new from any parts store. Moog makes a steering link and tie rod kit for a complete linkage system rebuild. Rubber parts are available from Dennis Carpenter as are king pins and bushing sets. I like nylon bushings because they are easier to install and remove later. Theres more.
