Dr. PEE is an idiot and I will be glad to no longer hear his comments. Comments like "Vaht vould zu excpecht, vee invented zee minivan". Sorry Doc PEE, Chrysler did that at a time that Dalimer was NOT part of the company and in fact the minivan was probably developed using money from the US gov't loan to Chrysler that got paid back early. Dr. PEE was over there, Dalimer was over there, and the best part is they were not around here. I also wonder if his comment, "vee invented zee automobile" is really correct........... ANd on top of that, he's promoting SUV's at a time that gas is about $3/gallon. Just goes to show one how out of touch he is with the world around him .

The only thing I heard him say was they invented the automobile, which they did. It wasn't Henry Ford.

Yeah...'cause it's not like Ford is promoting SUVs.

I liked the commercials, a good CEO who would get down and dirty. More believable than those commercials Ford ran with Bill Ford in them or the realllllly stupid ones with Toby Keith, as much as I like his music.

Sorry, but Chrysler did NOT invent the minivan. Remember the VW microbus? That thing, complete with it's wheezing 30 something hp, air cooled, boxer 4 banger, straight out of the VW bug, was the first true minivan.

Then VW should have called it the "microvan". VW's line up back then only appealed to hippies and college students. Chrysler's "mini-van" was marketed and sold to soccer moms.

Different body config if one looks at it, in particular the frontal area (hood in particular). Bus is not quite a van, I guess.

*Note my use of the word developed and not invent. Invent was Doc PEE's claim .

Think it's new? Think Again!

I seem to remember something called the Scarab:

http://www.popularmechanics.com/scie...tml?page=2&c=y

Article also mentions Ford Tri-Motor airplane...

.

Weren't we 'sposed 2 B talkin' 'bout advertising?

I thought Lee Iacocca tried to get Ford to build the minivan -- but they wouldn't have anything to do with it.

Dr Z. still has his website: https://www.askdrz.com/

The US government never loaned Chrysler a cent. The government gaurenteed the loans, they didn't make the loans. Essentially the government co-signed the loans, which were from banks, not the US Treasury.
