transmission leaking......
i have an 89 f150 with the mazda 5 speed. the truck has been leaving a 3-5 inch spot of tranny fluid on the ground after ive been driving it for at least 10-15 minutes. it isnt leaking from the fill plug, drain plug, or tail shaft. i pulled the shifter boot and it looks dry as a bone on top. there is a large metal plate on the top of the tranny with 5 or 6 half inch bolts....none of them were loose.
i briefly read something about rubber caps possibly causing leaks from dry rotting.....does anyone have more information on where they are located?
