It's called "overfilling". As the new oil comes in, any "crud" gets slammed against the outer wall where it is held in place by centrifugal force, and by continuing to add more oil the clean oil is forced out the center.

I gotcha.
So i take it the unfiltered stuff comes in at the bottom?
Is there already a way to get it in there?

No, the raw dirty oil goes in to the cylinder from the top through a tube that comes out close to the bottom. The clean oil flows around this pipe and is flung off to another cylinder outside of the rotating inner cylinder.

fabman- how bout this little mod. to your idea- instead of a poor mans centrifuge what about leave the agitator in place and make a verticalmesh screen tube about a foot in diameter attached to the agitator pour your oil in the top and the screened oil will end up in the waste line pump that's already there! then it will automatically pump it into your reaction vessel

Screening in any form is problematic, that's why I am exploring using a home made centrifuge.............

I've got a question that I haven't seen covered....just exactly how are you going to get the crud out when the "bag" is full of it? For the sake of discussion your looking at 20 gallons that weight 8-10 pounds a gallon....so 160 to 200 pounds. I'd guess your going to scoop it out before you start to remove the bag? That is allot of weight for a plastic bag...even if it's a heafy bag!
