Daily Driver?

What is the shortest trip you would make on a daily basis or how long does the motor need to run to avoid long term problems? I assume the type of driving is important ... highway vs stop and go.

I'm going to go from driving an hour and half to work each way to 30 minutes each way. The trip will be mostly highway miles.

You are fine at 30 minutes of highway driving. Your motor will be fully warmed up and all fluids at temperature. This amount of time will allow sufficient time for all mositure to be burned off and out of your oil and exhaust system.

Enjoy the shortened commute... more time for yourself and other activities.

My office is 10 - 15 minutes from the house, depending on red lights and traffic. @ 33K+ miles I have no problems with my truck.

If you travel over 7 miles at highway speeds you should be just fine. If you want to - use the severe service intervals instead of the norm.

When I'm not at my main job...I end up making several small trips here and there that are just short hops. I have a turbo timer on my remote start that I use and it shuts off the truck for me after a few mintues of ideling.

I work only 3 miles from home and one thing I'm not going to do is buy another car just for that. On the weekends I do put over 200 miles on her.

I'm only 2 miles from work. I go to work and am there for 15 to 20 minutes sorting things out and seeing what supplies I need for the day, then it's off to the grocery another mile away to pick everything up and back to work. Six days a week. On Friday nights, I take her to the drag strip and run all the build up clean out!

Also, sometimes after work I find a rice burner or two that needs a diesel engineering lesson. I love to tutor!!
