Looking at 95 XLT
..351..good engine
...automatic...ask for maint records and see if tranny fluid was changed (we change our 96 bronco's E4OD fluid every 30k miles
...4x4 watch for auto hubs that click when in 4x4 low or high
if electric Xfer shift check operation; listen to hear the "motor" engage
..It is lifted and has 33" tires. check ball joints, u joints, bearings, etc..w/larger tires (and the lift), the stresses wear these out a bit quicker
look for radiator leaks in plastic end caps..esp after it has been sitting overnight
not really much maintenance on these exc for the fluids and filter changes (esp tranny, fuel, and of course the oil)
I am familiar with fords but new to trucks (longtime mustang owner) Anything I should pay particular attention to? Any problems with this model/year?
...Good points to talk him down on? if no or delayed time interval maint records, use it as a chip...the lift..tell him it scares you cause of the effect on the handling on highway and steering..and also...ask him who did the work..if he did it..have it examined by a pro
Horsepower/torque rating?
1995 5.8W (351 ci) 210 hp @ 3600 rpm 325 ft/lb @ 2800 rpm
What is a good compression number for this particular motor?
dunno...someone else will know though
good luck!
