im going to try to make this short, i know how i get sometimes.
i am working on my neighbor's early 99, fixing a leak from the oil cooler. started by pulling the cooler, and replace the gaskets. still have the leak. i pulled it again, and the seal is not broken or deformed, looks perfect. while it was running i looked all around the mating flange and saw NO oil seeping out between connections. however oil looked like it was coming from no where. pulled the cooler again, found a hair-line crack and several places where it is pitted and the actual cooler core is starting to rust out badly. even the headers made from aluminum are starting to bubble up and pit. im taking it into school monday and hopefully pressure-testing it.
wanted to know if the T444E oil cooler is the same thing, because i want to go to the IH dealer to see if it's a better price. im going to replace the whole thing, front and rear headers, core and everything. i know the part numbers etc, just wondering if there is ANY difference, i want to save this guy a few bucks.
i need to change mine as well. i asked a IH dealer and they said it must be an after market or it was something ford had added to it. not sure if he just didnt want to look or not. stealership wants $250. i found one on powersroke.com for $191.
I am not sure why the they is calling it and aftermarketthing, because there maintenance manual for the T44E shows it and has removal and installation procedures. The only part number I have come across for the oil cooler from navistar is 1815904c2. It's an older parts book where this number comes from. Hopes this helps, Nodak
thanks ill half to call them with that part### and see if they are the same.i got my cps from them when i asked. he was also busy at the time. he eather didnt want to take the time or didnt put t44e and 7.3 togather.
he must have not wanted to take the time to look it up then.to bad its the only IH dealer withing a 100 miles of me.not a good way to do buisnes.. thanks for the info...im going to call and give them %$#^ ..
That's pretty common. The Ford and International dealers don't cross reference each others part #'s. Our local International dealer acts like he's insulted if you ask him for a Ford part, so I always just tell him I've got a triple four.
