hey guys i have a 89 bronco 302 v8 and im having touble when i drive for more than 5-10 mins when i brake and come to a stop my heat will go up and my oil presure will go low and my engine light will come on. then when i drive off from the stop my temp and oil will go back to normal. some friend told me it was the oil pump and i want to be 100% sure before i lift the engine and change the pump. thanx guys
Well, check the oil level first. Then check the coolant level. If both of these are within the proper range, then pull the computer codes that have been generated. There are fault codes, because the CEL doesn't come on unless certain codes are present.
You might want to get a mechanical oil pressure gauge and hook it up just to see what your oil pressure really is at idle. The gauge in the dashboard will register in the "normal" range even if there is only 5 psi in the system.
I had the same problem with my oil gauge. I used a pressure tester and it was fine so I replaced the sender and I have had no problems since. But with your problem it almost sounds like it may be an electrical problem with both the oil and temp gauges malfunctioning.
The factory gauges on these Broncos are for the birds......get a read deal shop gauge and check it with those....then install a set of aftermarket gauges like thse.

Then certainly check your fluid levels and pull the codes. I only mentioned the mechanical gauge so that you can get a better idea of what your oil pressure is really doing at idle. I dont doubt that the OEM gauges are trying to tell you there is a problem.
When was the last time your rad was flushed and new coolant put in?
When you are stopped can you hear your fan kick in and start blowing air through the rad? This could be the clutch or temperature sensor for an electric fan that is shot.
When your Bronco is at operating temp is the top hose going to the rad hot too?
