Supposedly, any column from 65-79 will swap. BUT (lots of Buts with this one), your 66 will need same type of steering that the doner 75 had (power or non power). You can swap the '75 steering box if needed. Wiring will have to be connected by alot of careful thinking, and the column to dash bracket will have to be taken from your 66 column and put on the '75. Stock 66 wheel supposedly will not work on a tilt unit, but am not sure. Try this and let the rest of us know how it works. I was looking for a tilt column for my 66, but have stopped because I heard the stock steering wheel can't be used. Lots of previous posts on this swap, good luck..!
Jim after reading your reply, and agreeing mostly with your advise, I must ask you, what difference does it make that you have to use the newer wheel, because tilt columns sure as heck weren't offered until 78. So being a purest can't apply to that issue.
Just curious

In the cool still quite of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
I just like the way the original wheel looks, with the chrome center and all. I am a "practical purist", like the old looks, with some modifications for comfort. Example, my restored dash has the original radio, but underneath is a (removeable) dash to floor console with cupholders and a Ford Taurus Am/Fm cassette!
I used 1/4 inch plywood, after making paper templates, and made it to fit contours of dash, etc. I covered in with a red vinyl to match the seats, bottom comes out slightly to incorporate a cutout for my large coffee mug and a regular can. Radio is mounted on a panel that has push release latches, in case I have to work on it, the lower hinged panel springs right out. The sides go back almost to the firewall, leaving room for ventilation. I mounted Taurus speakers in the sides, using Radio Shack black plastic speaker covers. I think it really looks good, with no exposed screws or brackets, and saved me the horror (!) of cutting up my dash for a good stereo!
