My father in-law has a 2001 Superduty with a powerstroke, today he went to go to town and got down the road and it stalled he got it restarted, then it stalled again, so he towed it home and changed the fuel filter and it will start and run for a minute and dies, he has a super chip programer and the only code that gives is PO603... anyone have any suggestions on testing this or thing to check??
it sounds a lot like a probllem i was having this last winter. My 2000 f-350 was doing the same thing the the cam position sensor went bad on me i would try it with that code i got the same code to after i chipped mine
sounds like a cps to me. get one from an international dealer for about $100 or if you have time to wait you can get them for $60 on ebay. they are $185+ from a ford dealer. it is also a good idea to keep one in your glove box as a spare. do a search on cps in the 7.3 forum and get ready to read. these are probably the most common failure parts on these trucks
u know i wouldnt suggest trying to pull it out and putting it back in it breaks most of the time when u take it out. i am going to say you probably dont have the tools to test it no offence i dont either but that is when it is nice to have a freind that works at the dealer again i would just replace it
i dont know if there is a way to test it but it would probably be just as cheap to replace it because it will go out eventually and if it doesnt fix the problem you have the one you took out as a spare
