So in essence a 3v conversion would be timing chains, covers, heads, cams, intake manifold, and either fixing the VVT or using a stand alone VVT controller.
I think there is more to the cam timing set up and positions within the front of the block to mount that gear for the VVT...
Ford increased the structural rigidity of the block by adding more beef to the valley and skirting of the block. I recall seeing a picture of the changes over the 2V block, I'll see if I can locate that again.
