motor change 1983.
in need of some help, Im changing the motor in a 1983 ranger with a manuel
trans. my question is will the motor pull away from the trans just by unbolting the bellhousing bolts or do i need to loosen bolts at the [pressure plate ,etc]

unbolt the bell from the engine then pull the transmission off the dowel pins. if its 4x4 i would suggest taking off the xfer case as that will cut out alot of weight and awkwardness, though its not a total neccessary step if you feel like man handling the weight. once the bell is clear of the dowel pins all thats holding it in is the pilot shaft about 1/2-1 inche more and the trans and engine are fully seperated. be carefull thats alot of weight and getting crushed or injured is highly possible. also make sure you remove the shift lever as your first step to the whole thing.
