I have a 2005 Ford F250 Crew Cab Long Bed 6.0Diesel. I am at 7000 miles and i already have problems. Today i was driving the trucka dn i had to reach 4,000 rpm until the transmission would shift. I am also starting to hear this chirping/rocks in the pipes sound coming from the engine. It happens when you accelerate adn thean you here this noise. Others have complained and its annoying. I am starting to think about getting rid of this trucka dn i am wondering if anyone is having these problems. Ford dealer already said its normal and i don't like it. Are there problms with the F150?? Any information would be appreciated
I'm not tellin you you're wrong about this bein a problem but it is a diesel it will be loud, it will be really loud @ 4000rpm
Not sure on your past experience with diesels but, the are quirks thatcome along with them.
Does this noise also accompany a drivability issue (ie loss of power etc.) or is it solely a noise issue?
More info will help others figure the problem out if indeed something is wrong
You may want to try postin this in the 6.0 diesel forum further down the page
Someone here will be able to solve your problem
this is my second ford diesel, i had a 2000 F350 7.3 l but got this one last year, i know the sounds and all but it won't change gears and its a prbolem with osmething in the engine vibrating that other people compllained about in te 6.0 diesel forum. Thinking about getting a rousch 150 or another gas 250
Also, when you take it back to the dealer...make sure to ask them if your PCM has the latest re-flash for your 6.0L PSD. I cannot tell you the current release...because there have been so many.
I asked my ford dealer and they sia its not effecting performance or the engine so we can't do anything, going to the dealer tomorrow to find out whats going on. I like the roush 150 and the f250 witha gas motor. I love this truck, spent over 2000 in rims/ tire package (pm me if you want them, willing to sell, im here in CT) I have a 15 and 13 year old and my 15 year old will drive soon and i won't need to take him wiht teh family anymore, if we do, we take the wifes car.
Any information about these problems and if you have given up your truck, let me know for what and f the dealer gave you any trouble
I'm surprised you are considering getting rid of the truck that quickly because of a couple of problems. The transmission not shifting until 4000 RPMs is a performance issue, so I would find another service center.
One thing i can not stand is any problems, and this part hta vibrates in teh motor is the most annoying thing you can hear. Its as loud as the turbo and the dealer already flashed it twice with teh program. I bought the truck for 37K last year and the dealer will give me 35k, so its not a bad loss
Does the truck have an aftermarket tune or shift kit? Is the not shifting happening under WOT and part throttle? I had a tune once that would not shift at full throttle, shift point was beyond the rev limiter. You could have a similar issue if your running a tune. Could also be a failing shift servo, but I don't know how to check for those.
i do have atuner on my truck but have had it since the truck had 250 miles on it. I don't think its that but it hasn't happened for the last two days so i dunno. I am still wondering about this noise from the engine. It seems like the blades or fans inside the turbo are hitting something in the inner wall of hte turbo. It happens when i decelerate and slightly when you accelerate. ANyone have any idea or a fix to this problem
will try that tonight. I think that i am having the turbo fart problem people are talking about, same symptons and its really annoting and doesn't sound good, might be a huge problem for 6.0 owners in teh near or far future
Your right, that's not a bad loss. You have probably gotten the $2000 back out of it. I just hate it that some service centers give people the run-around, instead of helping them fix a legitimate problem. Not to mention, that once a person has an issue like this, they lose confidence in the manufacturer, then move on to a different company for future purchases. For your sake, I hope the tuner is causing the shift problem, and it clears up when you remove it. As for the turbo fart, I've only had it happen once, but I don't have that many miles on my truck yet either.
Good luck
taking it to dealer tomorrow, they already hinted that they were not going to fix it. The shifting thing has stopped and i don't ahve teh tuner on. I still get teh turbo fart and i was driving with a friend, and he jumped when he heard it. I have heard it can actually get to the point of blowing the turbo and i don't want to deal with that. My dad is telling me to sell it and go chevy or dodge, you are right about loosing faith in a manufacturer, and thats a big reason the american auto market is behind the japanese and europeans
Keep us posted what the dealership finds on the turbo issue.
The tranny issue seems like it was your tuner. Maybe you need to get the "new" version of that tuner...to help with the tranny issue. Or get the tuner and toss it into the trash. Those things seem to kill an engine/tranny pretty quick. Just my .02 here...
