Hey everyone. I am looking at putting in some gauges before doing some of the other mods on my pick up. (96 PSD Crew Cab) Any body have any recomendations for the three gauge cluster (boost, egt, trans temp) on the A Pillar. Looking for reliability, ease of installation, and economical of course.
Mine is mounted on the frame just left of the windshield and forward of the driver window. It's convenient there and easy to put in. The only bad thing is obsesing over it while towing or on a long trip.
I've always had good luck with Autometer gauges. For ease of installation use a "T" fitting in the MAP sonsor hose for the boost, and a clamp on style thermocouple in the up pipe just aft of the drivers side exhaust manifold for the pyro.
well i'm not cookie (he is the man!) but i used the clamp on style before i drilled and tapped the hole!
i got both gauges (boost and pyro) from automneter, the ultralites! i love'em, very slick looking aluminum look and the green bulb filter makes it look stock! there is nothing wrong with the clamp on style probe but it makes for a much cleaner install and setup for you to just thread it in the manifold!
i highly recommend doing the pyro probe pre-turbo so the readings are more accurate. theres a good place on the driver side of the truck looking up at the motor, the manifold comes down and thats the best candidate from drilling!
i paid $200 exactly to my door for the 2 gaues and the a-pillar pod from jegs! very pleased
