What tests have folks on this forum used to determine a bad or slipping fan clutch?.
Friend of mine is struggling with overheating and has a new radiator and new thermostat (Ford/IH stat) already installed. Yet he still starts to overheat when towing his camper and boat upcountry when the engine is under heavy load.
I figure the only variable left he has not yet looked at is the condition of the fan clutch.
Any advice on how folks have tested their fan clutches would be much appreciated.
well, after replacing the radiator and t-stat, if it still overheats, the only thing left is either the water pump impeller or the fan clutch. if you doubt the function of the fan clutch, change it. it is better to know it is new and good than to think it may be good.
