I have a 2000 F350 Lariat that did not come with the automatic head lights. Does any one know if all I need would be the light switch with the automatic setting? Is it possible to have day time running lights?
As long as we are on this topic, what about a rear defroster and heated mirrors, any made these upgrades?
By autolamps, are you thinking the type that comes on at dark automatically, and not all the time? Maybe the Canadian DRL trucks are like that, I don't know.
I would like to have something like the lights that automatically come on at night. I wonder if there's anything in the aftermarket that would allow that?
By auto lights I mean lights that would run when ever the car is running or that come on when it gets dark. Different luxury cars do it different ways.
Does anyone know where to get the heated mirrors and how they would wire up. Would they just be on all the time or would there be a switch on them?

Your other responses are correct; you need more than a switch.
I have an 02 Lariat which has a sensor on the dash to detect low outside light and turn on the headlights. To get daytime running lights I cover the sensor with a small black crutch tip; that turns on the lights all the time, and they turn off outomatically after I shut down and get out of the truck. Not exactly low-powered daytime lights, but it works for me.

I have an '02 F350 XLT that does not have Daytime Running Lights (DRL). I remember that DRLs were quite the rage a few years ago, but I've noticed that there seems to be fewer vehicles equipped with them. I wonder if the Federal DOT discontinued approval because many-a-time, I have seen people driving their vehicles in the evening/night with no taillights. I guess when they started their vehicle, the DRLs came on and they thought the "Lights" were on. Quite a safety concern I would think.

Warren do you know if all we would need to do is add the switch and the sensor? Or is there some other module, etc. that is needed. I would like to have the auto lamps on mine too......

John, I don't know. My truck came equipped. Look up above at rjmay's post. He apparently knows, and gave the Whitney part numbers. Check with him, maybe by PM.
Also note that daytime running lights don't turn on the tail lights. I like my fix better; it turns on the regular lights including the tail lights and clearance lights. I don't know how to add it, however, if your truck isn't equipped with automatic lights that turn on at dusk.
