fuel pump externally?
would a electronic fuel pump on a 1984 Ford F-250 be safe to mount externally outside of the gas tank? i need to replace the sending unit and its $200 more to get one made for an electric fuel pump so i am trying to make an alternative! I already have all the return lines and everything figured out now the only problem is the fuel pump.

You might be better off with an aftermarket external fuel pump. I may be mistaken, but I think the factory pump needs to be submerged for cooling. (Of course it's not submerged when the tank is near empty, so I may be way off base.)
