mud bogs

Fallon, Sept 30 (Saturday,) at the Rattlesnake Raceway six pm Skipped Link will be competing at the mud bogs. Let's all go out an support his effort.

Several Nevada Chapter guys will be there, I'm going to look at RV parks but there are also hotels/casinos where people can bunk.

I'm hoping that we can all hook up early saturday for beverages and BS.

If anyone can do this, let us know so we can be sure to get together. It could be a blast.

There will be a NorCal Chapter Meeting there - likely at Lahontan Lake, but maybe only at the raceway.

I will be there, as well as Tim. Who else from the Calf side?

For those who don't know, it is about an hour out of Reno - you can stay anywhere from Boomtown east as there are rooms in both the Reno and Fallon casinos.

Some of us will be camped at Lahontan Lake camp ground.

Her are some links for lodging ideas. If anyone has any input on which are better choices, please feel free to post.

Off topic in another thread, both bbox and oldfordstone indicated they will be camped at:
Sage Valley RV park 775 867-3636
hookups, $25

Fallon motel rooms are $50 to $100 - Skipped Link has indicated he will likely be at the Super 8 so I made a reservation there for myself.

Okay Clint. Sounds good. Maybe we can figure a good meeting place pre bogs. The RV park may have a facility for that. I will check on that, but I do recall hearing that they had some kind of a recreation facility or something.
If not, we'll figure something out. At least before going we need to ensure we exchange cell phone #s of all members that will be there.
Have you heard from Alanco?

He was going to drive over, pick up your generator, and drive back after the bogs.

I agree on Sat afternoon, and maybe together for the bogs (I may be in the pits for some of it). But lets also figure a Sunday morning pancake breakfast - perhaps you guys could cook it at the campgrounds? I will support eggs and pan cake flour (mix) - maybe even some bacon if someone wants to cook it!

Mmmm baconnnn, my mouth is watering.
I just called Sage Valley RV Park. They indicated that they were an older park and that Fallon RV Park might be a little nicer??? Anyway, I'll do some more research on where is best.
Bdox, did you do any other checking on RV Parks?
At Sage Valley, they did indicate that we should make reservations as soon as we know for sure what dates we want. I guess the likelyhood of Snowbirds coming in large groups is increasing with the approach of fall.

Okay, I called around and found that Fallon RV Park is a better choice for RV camping. They have a market and gas station on the grounds. Attached to the market, there is a room with tables and a pool table where we could meet if we want. It closes at 9:00 pm though. That's okay, we'd probably just meet for a few brewskies and introduction before heading over to the mud bogs.
If I end up staying there, and can get ahold of Bdox to stay there as well, then that might be a good spot to meet up.

Hey Clint, are you sure you're not going to take your travel trailer.

If anyone is interested, I believe that Fallon RV Park also has tent camping as well.

Yea, it is a hard pull to tow one across Tioga Pass, and with paying $25 a night for a hookup, there is no advantage for just one person. My room was $50, or $108 for the two nights with tax.

RVs are great for families as you can cook plus bring a lot of toys for the kids. For myself, an ice chest works, and I eat out most of the time anyway. I will visit you at your campground.

OK Tim,

I'm not attached to Sage Valley. If Fallon RV Park is newer and better I will call them in the morning and make a reservation. I couldn't find a website for them but I did find their phone number. (702) 867-2332 Is that right? Is Fallon still 702 area code? Well I'll find out when I call. If any Calif guys are reading this, most of Northern Nevada changed to area code 775.

My plan is to get there by 1:00 or so and stay the night of the bogs. Then open depending on what happens as far as getting together goes.

Come on out!

Clint,
Cool!
Hey, maybe we can all meet in your hotel room...

Haaaa, Just kidding

Hey Clint, I haven't locked into hookups yet. Though it is looking like that will be the case. Over on the Nevada Chapter, an idea came up about the Still water (or something like that) wildlife refuge. Looks nice too. Still gotta negotiate with the wife though.

Bdox, yeah that's the number.
Give them a call and check out about the pool table room next to the market. Might be a good pre-bog meet room. We can get some beverages and munchies at the market next door. There's supposed to be tables/chairs in the pool table room.
I'm at work right now but will be doing the reservation thing tomorrow.
I might be coming into town on Friday. Not sure yet but is a good possibility that I will be there over Friday night.

Get enough people to attend and I will reserve a meeting room at the Bonanza Casino (part of the hotel.) That way we can have a short skirt delivering our beer!

I like that idea.
Of course I'll probably pay for it later, you know, wandering eyes and the wrath of the wife

I like it though Clint. Let's see how it goes.
Hey BTW, if I fall out of conversation for the next couple of days, it's not because I'm bailing out guys. I have some buisiness out of town that I REALLY NEED to take care of, starting tomorrow. I'll try and check in from a friend's computer though.
Sounds like things are coming together. I think our FTE Chapters are off to a good start.

I got a pit pass so will be busy starting about 2pm Sat - but it will make a great write-up for FTE if they want it, or my website if they drag their feet.

I will also use this outing for our newsletter - the first to be published about 15 Oct.
