Forgive the intrusion, but it looks like you guys may know a little about my engine. I have a 292 Ford Interceptor adapted for marine use (assembled by crusader). I just rebuilt the engine and am having a problem with carburation on the water. I have a special intake manifold that is shaped like the letter H and has 2 single bbl carbs that lay between the heads. My current intake does not cover the water ports in the head....just the fuel/air ports. I am looking for other manifolds so I can try other carbs on it.
This all stems from putting my engine at a tilt in the boat so I can run the prop by direct drive. It screws up the single bbl floats.
So,
1)where to buy/look for intake manifolds?
2)is a 600 too much for this engine built stock?
3)am I asking for trouble adapting my current intake with a plate so I can attach a 2bbl or 4bbl instead?
I am not sure about your problems with a boat application, but as far as a 600 cfm carb., your stocker should be just fine. My brother runs a 600 holly 4bbl on his and it runs great.
Interesting post. Your problem is the angle/ tilt of the motor. Try putting a universal joint in the prop shaft and leveling the motor by dropping the nose down. Actually, one of the 2300 series Holley 2 bbl. carbs would be great for marine use, and 2 bbl. manifolds are a lot easier to get.
