I'm looking for a set of factory cab steps for my '96 Regular cab F150. I found a good set at local junkyard but they are for an extended cab. I haven't seen them in person, but from looking at some trucks it seems I could cut the extended cab portion off. Then I could fill the end with fiberglass and paint.
My questions are: Are the regular cab and supercab bolt-ups the same (will the brackets interchange between reg & supercab). Second...could I just chop them off. I'm pretty good with fiberglass...which i'm assuming these are.
Anybody know about the bracket interchangeability?
Thanks.
I don't know for sure, but I believe so. The bracket is just under the step area as there is no load on the ext. cab area. I'm currently trying to find some brackets as mine are rusting away. Hope you find some that aren't too rusty. As for the steps being fiberglass, either that or some type of ABS plastic.
I found one reg cab right side step locally. I'm going to look at is Saturday. Then i'll decide about the other. Seems like the cabs should be the same in that area, but who knows. At least i'll have one to compare it against.
