I have a 00 f-250 with a v10 and am having stating trouble. It only occurs first thing in the mornings after being driven the previous day. It will crank strong but will not fire up. Give it a few hours(mid-day) and it will fire right up and run perfect. I’m thinking it may be tempeture (ambient) related. Any suggestions. I have given it a shot of eather in the air intake and still nothing, not even a pop. Thanks!
Try starting it with part throttle. If it starts or wants to start but won't stay running then more than likely it's the IAC (idle air control) vlave located behind the throttle body. Very common issue.
I tried giving it a little gas as suggested, but no go. I had it towed to the shop so the mechanic can take a look while its not starting. One more thing, This morning when it was cranking the battery light would flicker, I understand the computer is rather finicky when it comes to voltage. Is it possible that when there is a load on the batttery from the starter the computer isn’t getting enough juice? Just a thought as I think that could be tempeture sensitive. If any one else has any more ideas please send them my way. Thanks
Battery light flickering...humm sounds like the battery or electrical issue now. Is the battery the OEM stock that came with the SD? If so...it has seen better days for sure...being six years old.
Keep us informed of what they come back with...I am very interested to know the outcome.
Well the mechanic was stumped so I took it to the dealer. They have had it since last Wednesday and called today wanting to put in a new computer. What do you guys think? Do they usually guarantee what they do will fix the problem or can they just through parts at it at my expense (I’m new to these things). Thanks for the help.
They can throw parts at it until it works and then stick you with a big bill. However they sometimes have a reason, try to talk to the mechanic. I would certainly try a new battery before I replaced the computer. It's not a bad idea to ask if there was a calibration update he could try first.
That little 90 deg elbow that attaches to the throttle body and the PCV sure gives most mechanics the blues. It doesn't appear to be bad until you remove it, then you find all sort of cracks and tears in it.
Did they check the pressure at the fuel rail? Might be a bad fuel pump.
Thanks for all the input. I just spoke with the tech, They said they cant even get the computer to communicate with their equipment when it wont start, so hopefully their on to something. He said he is 99% sure this will correct the problem so if it doesn’t that means I get 99% of my money back right...LOL.

They now want to replace the Central Junction Box. They say they had one in stock so they have the new one plugged in and it has been working fine for the last few days and they think they got it. Now for my question. They say the Central Junction Box shorted and took out the PCM. Is this possible or with the intermittness, or does it sound like the CJB was the problem the hole time and they just missed it. Is there a way test the original PCM? Are they intermittent? How does $680 for the PCM and $520 for the Central Junction Box sound. Thanks for the help.
