Question Redirect Exhaust ?

I have a '96 E150 with a 5.8L. The exhaust exists out of the passenger side. I have 4 kids and this is our daily family vehicle. Therefore, the side doors are usually open for a few minutes or more while getting all the kids in and buckled and we usually start it up to get it cooling off since in FL.

The problem we have is that some of the exhaust enters the cabin while loading up. It seemed that it would make more sense to put the exhaust on the drivers side.

1st Question:
Has anyone tried to move the exhuast from passenger to drivers side? Is there another fix? I thought of just getting tip to redirect it to the rear and that might help but we frequently have the rear doors open too to put the stoller in and don't really think that would help enough anyway.

2nd Question:
The Exhause is quite smelly. I have not driven a large engine like this in a while but don't recall it smelling so bad and it is not just the smell but could cause coughing if a good size breath were taken of it. Is this another problem or is this too be expected?

Thanks for you input.

A) what's it smell most like? Other exhaust? As strange as this sounds, BRIEFLY smell another vehicle's exhaust for comparison.

And B) probably the easiest thing to do is to direc it towards the rear. A muffler shop could do this very easily, though they'll prolly just chop the rear of the tailpipe off and weld a new straight one on.
