i have a 1999 f250 super duty v-10 engine. when i first start my truck it runs fine, after driving it for 15 min or so it has no acceleration and engine will not rev past about 2800 rpms. i put my truck in n and turn it off and back on and its fine for 5 min or so then same thing over. No Codes. Please help
does it buck or sputter?
You chkd for codes with a scanner? and you verified the chk eng light is working when you first start the vehicle?
If you shift to neutral will it rev above 2800?
Clogged cat ,bad fuel pump, faulty cylinder head temp sensor
is it overheating?
when you drive the first 5 min. does the tranny shift correctly?

no sputter or bucking. engine light works. it will not rev past 2800 in p or n, but when i shut it down it will rev all the way up for bout 5 min. then problem starts all over. when i first start the truck and drive tranny seems to run strong.
The fuel pump may just be getting hot after five minutes of running and then not pushing it's full pressure. I think a fuel pump or at least a fuel pressure guage would be the place to start.
I know it's a wives tail, but they work sometimes. Is your tank full? A fuel pump uses the fuel it's sitting as a coolant and lubricant. I wouldn't advise filling it up, sense you will have to drop the tank to replace the pump.
Might be a long shot, but maybe the fuel filter could be clogged up??
I have seen that. I had an old chebby where the fuel filter element would clog with debris, the engine would stumble then stall, the debris would fall off, then it would restart (rinse repeat).....
has new fuel pump and filter any other ideas. it runs well just wont rev past 2800 rpms, then i shut the truck down and start it right back up and then will rev all the way up for about 5 min. threw a p0171 code, system too lean (bank 1)
Have you checked your fuel pressure and bleed down? I still think it is a fuel issue, possibly clogged injectors or bad fuel pressure regulator. It could possibly be a very dirty MAF not metering the correct amount of air at those RPMs and the computer not giving enough fuel.
Try disconnecting the battery to reset the computer. Mine (99 v10) did this after a few hours on the road. Threw left right lean codes. I cleaned maf meter and reset computer. been fine since.
