Engine Year
How do you tell what year your engine is? Reason I ask is that the previous owner of my truck had a new crate engine put in back in '03. Just wondering if the dealership put in an '03 engine or if they put in a '98 engine that they had in a warehouse somewhere.
Reason I ask is because I just raced some dude with another '98 and flat out smoked him every time. I don't have much in the way of mods, just a drop-in K&N and dual exhaust w/ 33" tires to slow me down a bit and stock 3.55 gears. After we launched three times, we met up down the road and he had an all stock '98 with a drop-in K&N, his tire size was 265/75/R16 street tires. Both trucks are 4X4 XLT. So if I had a newer engine with a little more hp then that's probably the difference. Only thing I can think of.
Well I don't know why I beat the guy so bad then? Maybe he had a problem with his truck and didn't know about it. If I see him again I'll definitely let him know I have a '98 engine though.
Not sure on the gears .. maybe he had some lower gears. I'll check that out too if I see him again.
