shifting funny

ok i got a 93 f150. im nost shure what tranny it has.. but on the dash is says
P N R D 1 2. now the problem, the tranny stays in 1st untill u let off the gas. im hopein thats is sumthin electrical like a tps?

Try adjusting the kick down cable. You need to find a happy medium between needing to apply alot of pedal to downshift and solving your problem. With your foot on the pedal, the kick down cable may be pulled too tight and it is keeping the transmission in a lower gear. Just a thought. Try adjusting it or having it adjusted.

id the adjusting. and it helped a lil bit but it still sticks

the shift pattern should really read: P R N D 2 1.

is the shift lever loose?

yes i just listed them backwards, sry. nope its not loose. would the tranny be causeing it to shift funny like that or would it bea glitch in the computer end of it? cause id think that all the gears would be funny if it was the tranny
