I was wondering what kind of temps you guys see while pulling trailers? My 96 seems to get pretty hot EGT's going while only pulling my 2500lbs of trailer. The other day on the freeway going 70-72 it got up to 1100 degree's on a slight hill and was sitting at probably 800 just cruising. I think thats high. I wonder what the truck would get to pulling a good load, like 6000lbs? Also I have a 3" downpipe to 4" exhaust and my homemade cold air intake, so I'm getting good air in and out...now that i think about it, I wonder what my temps were with stock intake and exhaust!
So I just wanted to see what the temps you guys are seeing with an estimate of your load weight. I don't think I'll be using this truck for work next year, probably getting a newer truck and retiring this truck to get injectors and be a play toy so it's not a huge deal.
When pulling my 5er and boat last weekend (approx 15,000#) I only got to a 1000 degrees. I used to have a superchips 1700 model and the egts would hit 1200-1300 degrees on the same stretch of road. Now I have a TS Performance chip and they are lower now.
What gearing do you have? I have 4.10 and at 70 mph I'm at about 600 degrees.
I'm sure somebody will chime in and give you a reason why its so high.
