Boost Numbers

I Pulled my 10,000# fifth wheel last weekend, up some pretty steep & long grades. I was pulling close to 25# of boost at times, with my waste gate unplugged. I have not adjusted the arm any, so it is still stock. My question is, at what point will the engine start defueling? (I do not have a regulator). I am running an juice w/attitude stacked on an evolution, both on tow mode. What is max boost that i should run on stock turbo & intercooler? Any info will be very helpful

what EGT were you seeeing with the evolution? when towing, i would limit my defuel point for the EGT at 1200*, and the boost at 24psi. i am surprised you saw 25psi from the MAP sensor (where the Attitude takes it's reading from), and you didnt throw a CEL and an overboost code. the boost will only show what the MAP Sensor is reading with the attitude, so if you have some way to fool the map sensor into only reading 23psi to not fool the sensor, you will only see 23psi, not a true reading like a mechanical gauge.

also, i would adjust the wastegate and re-attach it so you can only get to 22-23psi max, because you were at the safe boost limit for the stock turbo. after 24-25psi, the compressor moves out of it's efficiency map, and all it does is produce low-quality boost, particlarly very HOT air. you are better off at 20psi of boost being cooler than having 24+ boost and having very HOT air. especially when towing with a performance tune of any kind, you should have the wastegate functional.

At 25 psi, I think you are defueling. I'll get 28 at times with the wastegate connected. I'm thinking about removing the boost pressure regulator whenever I go out on a trip because I'm overworking my turbo and don't want to blow it up.

I was running at 1000* , & the numbers I reported wer coming from my di procol's. I looked at the guage again, & I was probably at 22 to 23 pounds. My attitude alarm was going off @ about 18# on the diprocols, it was reading 28 to 30 pounds. I did not understand that situation.

I very rarely get my boost over 20#. 25# seems high for only 1000* EGT unless you were towing at high RPM. I usually tow in OD so that may be why.
