Nope, never noticed the overboost... never saw it go any higher than 30psi or so. Not much higher than what it's going right now.
I've got a couple of little issues... the dealership had a paperwork snafu and had to mail me my receipt. The receipt shows they added 2 quarts of transmission fluid... Mercon V, not Mercon SP. They may get a chance to do a complete flush on it tomorrow. Also, they apparently had to evacuate the refrigerant to pull the cab, and now the A/C isn't working as well (especially at idle). So, it may need a top-off.
Just for reference purposes:
14.3 hours for diagnosis/repair - $929.07
Gasket kit - $51.26 (install parts, I guess)
Turbo - $785.26
Head gasket - $672.76 (that's for ONE... they replaced both)
And plenty of miscellaneous junque.
$4548.83 billed to Ford Warranty. Quite glad it was covered.
I think you're right. Of course, the stock gauge is only a guess, according to those who have real gauges on their turbos. Guess I should consider adding an EGT/trans temp/boost pressure pod set soon.
Also, boost pressures will vary with altitude, barometric pressure, etc.
I'm hoping that, other than the minor A/C issue, I'm done for awhile.
