5 of my friend have esof and 3 have had problems. it took me about a month longer to find my truck, one of the options i waited on was the floor shift 4x4.
Remember the Kiss rule--- Keep it simple stupid--- At my electronic 4x4 training class, the final test was to diagnose an expedition with the same problem. They removed the fuse from the battery junction box under the hood. Check the fuse, no light, means no power available.
I specifically went for a truck with manual t-case and hubs. The only way I'll ever go, I've seen too many problems with all this push button 4x4 stuff. Good luck in gettin yours fixed. Fuse sounds like a good place to start, if not, at least we all have warranties to fall back on.
Ok, it just started working and I didn't do a thing so I don't think is the fuse.
You've got the dreaded intermittent problem. I still would start with the fuse. You can have one of the terminals that the fuse connects to, loose or poorly connected. Check the connector at the rear of the transfer case for water intrusion.
You need to be rolling to egage properly, if the shifter in the transfer case isn't lined up when you go to engage FWD, it will try three times then stop and will not try to engage again untill truck moves.
I have the auto system also with auto hubs. The only issue I have had is a broken vacuum line to the hub at 125K miles. Cost to repair $4.29,, I do keep the remove the hubs and clean them to make sure they operate freely. Jim
