I bought an '04 F250 6.0 a few weeks ago as a suprise for my husband who is returning from Iraq next week. I was poking my head around and found a Bully Dog box under the steering column. Took the truck to a performance store and the technician said that there is a Bully Dog Dyno Max system installed, yet it's not hooked up. He said that he could hook it up for $100 and it would give us another 140 hp. I'm wondering if this is something I should go ahead and have done. My husband is a jet engine meghanic so I'm sure if he hears the words "added horsepower" he's going to go for it. If I get this thing hooked up, what will it give the truck, and is there negatives to having it hooked up, like added wear and tear on the truck. Also, I'm really concerned about the system voiding our Ford and then extended warranty. Please help!
Sorry, wrong name, it's the Dyno Dominator

Reason: wrong system name
Yes and no, the $100.00 to hook it up is waaaaay high. Get on the web and contact Bullydog.com and they will provide you with a set of instructions and do it yourself. Maybe after all the hello's you two need to have after him being gone so long might hook it up together etc?
By the way WHAT a wife to buy him a truck!!!!!! He deserves it tooo, being over there and all!! Thank him from all of us members and Sponsors at FTE.COM too for his service to America!!
Ford can (and likely will) deny warranty repairs, if they even have a hint that the Bully Dog was contributing factor to something breaking. Worst case scenario, Ford could take the hard line & attribute a large number of engine & transmission failures to the Bully Dog...basically voiding the primary reason that you have an extended warranty.
I hate saying this, but...having spent seven years in the Marine Corps, I know the budget that most military families operate on. (Pretty sad when most military families can qualify for just about any form of financial aid--including food stamps & WICA.) Given that in itself, I would be extremely hesitant in getting it hooked back up. I might even go so far as to talk to the dealership (assuming you did go through one), and having them remove it (on their dime...kind of wonder if they weren't the ones to disconnect it in the first place) & provide some form of documentation indicating that they've checked out the vehicle & deemed that neither its installation nor removal are going to adversely affect your warranties.
I also thought that the dealership disconnected it for inspection purposes or something. And sadly enough, I'm extremely worried about the warranty because I've already had warranty work done to it. 2 days after I brought it home it started leaking oil, on the way back to the dealership the truck started bucking and blowing black smoke. They replaced a valve gasket, EGR valve, and the oil drain plug. I have been under more stress in the last 3 weeks than I was ever in during my 6 years in the Navy (deluxe50, I was a corpsman) and my 9 years as a Navy wife. I just want everything perfect when my husband comes home ( I already had the spray liner done, the running lights across the top added, ordered the bed cap, convinced the dealership to add keyless entry at their cost, had the brake controller installed, and am putting the bug shield and vent visors on Monday). This might be something that I let my husband decide.
It would be helpful though if someone knows more about the system. The website doesn't give too much info and I want to be able to make an educated decision.
