The 5" MBRP currently is only Aluminized.

If you go 4" then you will have a choice of Aluminized, T-409 Stainless, and T-304 Stainless.

It also depends where you live....ie salt on the roads in the winter, etc... I think the T-409 Stainless is your best bet and bang for the buck if your looking to go stainless.

Jocaren,

Depends on where you live and how long you intend to keep the truck. Aluminizdd is good stuff but anywhere it is cut or welded on it will start to rust at the first puddle splash as the aluminized coating is gone from those areas. 409 stainless will get gray/brown looking just like the stock system but will be there a long long time. Call us if you have any questions we'll be glad to help you.

where it is welded or cut is there a sealant that will not vaporize or just burn off when ran so it will be protected

Is there any performance differences in a 4" vs a 5" turbo back?

Jocaren...You may be under the impression that bigger is better...Unless you have done extensive mods to your truck you only need the 4" Turbo back. The downtube is 3.5" and the rest of the system is 4". You won't gain anything going into a 5" exhaust.

It is worth getting the stainless exhaust over the aluminized for corrosion resistance and strength. I owned an aluminized exhaust on my 2005 F250 and is was corroded everywhere and had lots of dents along the bottom. The other two exhausts that I've had were stainless and I didn't have corrosion or problems with dents. Once the dents were made then it corroded in that spot. It was never at the point of breaking through, but looked really bad. The aluminized was a much thicker wall to give strength, but didn't work on my roads.

MBRP 4" TurboBack goes in really nice and gives you the ability to do a CAT delete easily without heavy mods.

Its not aluminum, its just a coating. Technically, the t304 is the only system to have enough nickel content to truly be deemed stainless.

I'm curious which blend the stocker uses. I've been considering the aluminized because I am convinced the mine sight will destroy or degrade any of the systems.

Chemicals at waork include, but are not limited to: magnesium chloride, sulfuric acid, and the fact that she is always covered in sulfidic mud and moisture. However, I do have high egts and hate backing out...I'm looking for the turbo-back straight pipe.

That's what I thought that it was just a coating over the standard exhaust pipe similar to a galvanized nail. The nail is still a nail, but is coated with a special coating. Problem is that if you cut, scratch or grind off the coating it will corrode.

I used to know the quality levels of several alloys, but rarely had to remeber them so I've forgotten most now.

From many other discussions of this same topic I think the stainless works out the best no matter where you live. It will turn a little grey-brown like Mark said earlier, but they do have polished stainless if you want that. You can't see 90percent of the exhaust except from behind the rear axle and you can just add a tip of your choice.

I'm more concerned with function, not fashion.

I don't think the original poster is worried about fashion either. Nor am I. I was stating the obvious but failed the first time and clarified the next.

Customz,

Just so everyone is clear about the different materials. Ford uses 409 stainless on the stock truck. We have aluminized coated mild steel, that's why when you cut it the mild steel is exposed and will rust. Then we have 409 like the stock system is and finally we have 304 stainless that has a lot of chromium and nickel in it and that is what makes it stay shiny and not corroce at all!
