Radiator donor for 61
I bought a pickup (61 w/v8) without a radiator and thought it would be just as well to get a newer style instead of going with the old type. Is this the right thing to do? Also what matches up well to use that would be better than the original without too much fabricating?

My suggestion would be to get a junk radiator out of a V8 61-64 truck and have it recored, using the original top & bottom tanks. If you plan to install an automatic, you can have it recored with a built in trans cooler now and save $$ later. Other than a 61-64 truck radiator, you will just have to do alot of measuring and checking on the hose outlets and mounting points to find a random used one that might fit. I had my '66 recored, with the trans cooler, and it cost about $ 175 for a really good job..

Radiator donor for 61
When I bought my truck, someone had replaced the original for a Chrysler unit. Seems to work fine until I drove it to Houston Friday night. At 70-80, it reached temps close to 240 but after slowing down to around 60-65, The temp dropped back to 200 real quick. When I drove back around 10pm, the temp never went over 210 even at 70-80 mph. Not bad for no shroud and a fixed pitch fan.
