I have some horns from a tugboat id like to install on our Expedition. My main use will be blasting them at lazy punk kids who think they can walk as slow as they want across the street while changing the tune on their ipod and yacking on their cell phones while 10 cars with adults at work are patiently waiting for them to hurry up.
Would a 12v 150psi compressor like this one be sufficiant to blast 2 large horns with "Air delivery: 1.35 CFM @ 40 PSI, 1.14 CFM @ 70 PSI, 1.05 CFM @ 90 PSI"? I use the garage compressor on the horns and they work great with it. I believe my garage compressor is 150psi or a little under. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=93186
Yes, a tank would be your best bet. You could make one out of a large piece of PVC pipe ONLY if you shielded the pipe with sheetmetal. PVC pipe was used for years for airlines till they figured out if it gets damaged, it shatters like glass.
You may also try the people who make air bag suspension systems for cars. They have tanks, but they may cost a little bit.
Thanks for the advice everybody. Now im looking for a small compressor on a small tank i could stuff somewhere in the engine bay, if i could get away with it.
