I posted this topic earlier about my truck a 1984 f-250 6.9 deisel not pulling very well or at least losing power up hills, and ive had a thought. It came stock with Lt235 85R 16.5-e tires on rear and now it currently has 33X12.50R 16.5lt's.
How much taller is current tire from stock? and what do you think that might bring my gear ratio down too from 3:73 stock?
Ive measured current tire from ground on the truck and it actually measures about 31.5in. tall

235/85-16 tires are a little under 31 inches, but then all my tire diameters are for mud tires which tend to be bigger.
I think your gear is a 3.55 in an 84.
Also you have to remember the 6.9 only has 175 HP.
If it is a high altitude model the HP drops to 156 HP.
If you want to blast up the hills, you need a turbo.
