My 2006 V6 Explorer engine revs to 1200-1500 rpms just before coming to a complete stop. It is almost as if I have foot on the brake and the gas pedal at the same time. This only happens for a fraction of a second just before stopping. It never happens while coasting. If I put the truck in neutral while coasting and then come to a complete stop the problem does not occur. This leads me to believe its a transmission issue. My ford dealer assures me this is normal. Call me crazy, but i simply can't believe this to be normal occurance. My old 1998 and 2004 explorers never did this. Can someone who works in a ford service department let me know if this is this normal? Can someone who drives a 2006 explorer confirm this condition in there truck? Thank you.
My '02 with the 4.0L didn't do this; have you spoken to the service manager about it? If so, might be time to make a phone call or two - sure doesn't sound "normal" to me, but then I'm no expert on the "drive-by-wire" system.
AIC, Air Input Control valve, lays on the intake manifold to regulate the idle, cylindrical in shape with a 2 bolt flange and an electrical connection. Take it off and clean the inside with throttle body cleaner
