I have a 61 that I haven't got running yet but I wanted to ID the transmission. The original was 3 speed on the column with 6 cyl.and has been changed to a floor shift with a y block v8. I have posted about this pickup before, it has the floor cut out over the transmision and it was suggested that the transmision was changed. What standard transmisions would be on the y block? and how would I know which one was which?

Thanks for any information
Kevin

If your floor shift conversion is still a 3 speed, I would almost bet it is the same 3 speed trans that it was before. If it is now a 4speed, it was probally the one behind the V8 out of what ever parts truck it came from.
