muffler replacement DIY or pay $$$?
Looking for opinions on replacing mufflers on my 78 Bronco plow truck. It has a dual 2" exhaust with worn out mufflers that measure 18". Local shops want $85 each to put new ones on or I can buy them for around $30.00 each and weld them on myself. Would you just cut the mufflers off and buy ones a little longer to fit in? Anything else I'm not thinking about? And the big question is, is laying on my back welding above me worth saving $110.00??? Thanks TB

have a shop do it. im sure you can weld good but when it comes to exhaust best left to the guys doing it all day long. I hate smelling exhaust in my car and if you happend to not do to good of a job and it leaks that can be dangerous

I agree with kemical, just let the shop do it. As he said, it can be very dangerous if the exhaust leaks. The price they are asking is not bad either. What kind of mufflers did they quote you for?
