Hi all.....just curious as to where the best place would be to route the wires coming into the truck for offroad light switch.....i have looked and looked...hope anyone out there knows of a convenient spot to bring it through the firewall on my 06 f150 SCREW. Thanks in advance!!
if its going to be few 16-18ga. wires you might get by with sneaking it through an existing boot/grommet. Then seal around it with a silicone or the like. (I've found it easier jus' cutting a small slit w/a razor and fishing it throu)
On past projects and clientele... I've jus often- drilled what-ever size applicable hole I needed and either used a liquid-tite strain-relief or a type of snap-in or self sealing grommet or bushing. If you can find a good auto/stereo installer they should have these, or stop by a electrical supply house that handles custom elect. enclosures or automation equip.
**Whenever I did drilling, I would prime/seal off the bare metal to help-prevent future rust.**
On my 04 I routed the wires through a grommet in the firewall, to the right of the brake booster. It's back fairly far and somewhat difficult to see. I got the wires through by taking each wire out of the connector, poking a pinhole in the grommet, then carefully!! pushing the wire through the grommet so you don't tear it. I can provide pictures if needed ( already have on computer ).
