My indicator light started fluttering at 65 mph this morning. Only for a second or 2 and then off, then fluttered again a few minutes later. The engine was at operating temperature. Is this a sign of a real problem or normal on these old 6.9 diesels? Mine is a 1986 (6.9L).
How long does it take before glow plugs can fry? My "water in fuel" light has never come on.
I did have the entire glow plug system upgraded to the 7.3L style this Spring.
Am I in trouble again? Thanks for any advice.

The time for glow plugs to fry depends on the make. For most of them it is not long at all. What kind do you have? The newer style system is better than the old, but I guess not flawless. How long does the light stay on when you first try to start the truck when it is cold? Although I have the newer style in my 90, I decided to put in a push button. My gps have been for about 2 years now with no trouble.
