have a 2004 explorer with 23,000 miles. I recently noticed when you put the pedal to the floor and the rpm's get to around 3500 the alternator light comes on until you let off of the gas. Any ideas of what this could be. Otherwise the truck runs great. I did recently take it from NY to florida nonstop last month, don't know if that could have anything to do with it. well thanks for the help.
I had a bad alternator on my mustang that would do the same thing except for me it started when I got over 5000 it would start overcharging and then it got down to 3k. I just exchanged the alternator (it was a rebuilt one from Napa) and the problem went away.
i have a feeling it is the alternator or the diodes inside. I recently went to florida with the truck so i am wondering i the 16 hour nonstop drive cooked something. It only has 24k on it and is under warranty so they have to fix it.
Thanks for the reply
