just got a 94 f-150 with 64k miles this morning, and I just discovered some problems.first off , when the powered passenger window goes up, there is loud screaching sound. secondly, the low beams come on , but are barely visible and are of no use for driving at night. third, when the truck has been sitting for a while and you try to start it, you hear a clicking noise and the truck will not start for 10 or 15 seconds, even with the gas down.Any sugestions on fixing any or all of these problems would help alot.
Sounds like you may have a battery that is going out,or it isn't being charged by the alternator,or the cables or connections are corroded and need to be cleaned or replaced depending on the condition. At idle the voltage at the battery should be around und 14-14.7 volts.Go thru it as it has probably been neglected a little. Not sure if the battery problem is causing your low beam but check the connections and the ground for the low beams as they are working but not bright. Is the screeching the weather strip rubbing on the glass? Another though if the dimmer switch is on the floor it may have some corrosion causing the light problem.

I agree with MISS. What does your volt meter read when engine off and engine running (no accessories on)? Should be 12-12.6 off and 14-14.7 on. But I'd have the following things done even if it checks out because everything can change when a load is applied.
Have your battery terminals and cables cleaned (get a battery terminal wire brush...terminals should be shiny). While the terminals are off, have the battery tested at an auto parts store. If the battery is low, have it charged. When you put it back in the truck check your lights and window issue. Then try the starter issue. If any of the problems go away, weak battery or alternator is your problem. If the battery tests bad or is low, have the alternator tested also. Keep in mind that when the engine is running, all the voltage should be supplied by the alternator.
If your charging system is in order, other sources include:
window: check for weather strip obstruction like MISS said, or motor maybe going out...it happens.
lights: consider replacing bulbs
starter: check that the click is the starter relay. Examine starter wiring and grounds
Just some suggestions.
Also, with fuel injection you should not pump the gas pedal when starting.
had the same problems today with my foot off of the gas when starting. thought of something different with the light, when i turn on the low beams, only the amber corner lights come on, and the high beams work fine. and i think the starting problem is probably related to the battery, so I will try one that I know is good

I haven't tried starting mine at less than WOT if I'm touching the accelerator at all. It's a '94, so EFI/MAF system, therefore, NO NEED for touching the accelerator pedal when cranking it like there was on carbureted systems with heated chokes on them. In fact, it SHOULD NOT start if you floor it trying to crank it. This is a good non-invasive fuel injector test. The starter should turn the engine, but it should not run if you hold the accelerator to the floor and turn the key. If it does, then you have leaking injectors. In the WOT(Wide Open Throttle) position, the EEC will disable fuel injector pulses while starting. If it doesn't crank without diddlin the accelerator pedal (pumping it does NOTHING), I'd have a good look at the IAC, fuel delivery, and injectors.
But, if it just isn't cranking, and you've made sure you have a working battery, check to see if the battery clamp is the original molded clamp with two large wires coming out. One goes to the starting relay, the other straight to the starter. Chances are, if your headlights are dim, the cables are failing inside the clamp. If it just refuses to 'turn over' or the starter doesn't turn the engine quickly, this could also be the clamp, but may include the starter. It may be that the starter's just bought the farm if it's the factory starter.
Battery went bad, was causing the following problems which were cleared when I put a new battery in the truck, the one I replaced was put in the truck in 1996 lol.
- Sluggish cold running performance
- engine stumbling
- weird headlight activity
- clicking when turning ignition
- unusual idle <-- I think, not sure if it went away 100%, but I cleaned IAC before to no effect, so far no weird idle after new batt.
