fan conversion
This is probaly really stupid, but I was wondering if it is posible to reverse the air flow direction of my radiator fan and if so is it an ok idea. I have a 76 250 w/ a 360 OEM radiator no major mods. The fan blows air out of the engine across the radiator and I want to pull in fresh cooler air. The truck runs a little hot especially in stop go traffic. I have flushed the coolant and replaced the theromstat.

Even if the fan could be put on backwards the blade pitch would still pull air through the raditor, not push it forward. Are you sure it's pushing or does it just feel that way when the hood is open? Check your blade pitch and the rotation to confirm for sure which way the air is moving. Do you have a fan shroud on the radiator? If not that can contribute to the issues you're having with overheating.

the fan must be from so other vehicle.you cant really install it backwords.it will still flow the same way either way its installed.-never mind,its already been mentioned.but as far as a fan conversion,i installed an auxillery electric fan on the front of the rad.it is wired to a switch.i can turn it on or off as i desire.i still have aflex fan in place of the original.the electric fan works well when im in heavy traffic,or after i shut off the truck on hot summer days.-billy
