Hi again everyone,
I have started up my 66 for the first time in a couple of
years and have a question.
The first day it started and continued to idle, but cut
off when I pushed down the accelerator. The next weekend, it
would only run for a few seconds when putting some gas directly
in the carburetor. I am thinking there is something wrong with
either the carb, fuel pump, filter, or in the fuel lines. What is the
best way to determine this? (it is a 390/2bbl)
Pull the carb and clean the needle and set and replace your accerator pump diaphram. Should run fine after that.

You may also want to change out your fuel filter and blow air back through your fuel line. Just disconect it at the fuel pump inlet and take the gas cap off before you do. Remember water is heavier then fuel and settles in the low spots.
I might drain the gas thats in the tank now. im not sure were ur from but
when you got year old gas where i come from it most likley is bad
let us know what u find
